You may have noticed some huge changes here at Departure Productions!
Maggot Man is a feature-length B-movie from Departure Productions. It was released in January of 2007, and subsequently became the first ultra-low-budget movie ever to be released on Blu Ray disc.
We are producing a graphic novel series entitled Zik the Gallant Defender of Zoz!
Departure is pleased to be offering hosting and support for Adam Black’s Locus series.
Our trailer for Maggot Man 2 is streaming online for you to enjoy! It features a scene that will not be in the film itself, but which occurs between scenes, as Dr. Kevin decides to become a cyborg!
I’m pleased to announce the release of Departure Productions’ latest short video, A Stitch In Time, featuring Chris Moor as Detective “Cuff ‘Em” Valentine. This is the second Cuff ‘Em short, and Chris’ third magnificent appearance in the role.
We are also pleased to be hosting and providing technical support for Kevin Hayman’s Everywhen Comics.
This Friday, June 24th, at 9:30 pm, Ottawa’s Mayair Theatre is having a special screening of movie trailers for film that have never been made. Our Maggot Man 2 trailer will be among the trailers shown! Now, technically, this is supposed to be for movies that have never and will never be made, but you can bet your bottom dollar that we’re still working on actually making Maggot Man 2: Night of the Kevinator. Here are the event details:
- Friday June 24th, 2011
- Mayfair Theatre
- 1074 Bank Street, Ottawa
Here is a Facebook Event Page to help you spread the word to your friends!
Come on out and have some fun watching these local and international trailers! There are some gems among them, and we’re honoured to have been included!
Here is the description from the Mayfair Theatre website:
In the tradition of Rodriguez’s and Tarantino’s Grindhouse, we present a festival of real trailers for fake movies. This is the only chance you’ll have to see these original works by local and international filmmakers, because these flicks are never coming to a theatre near you.
UPDATE: In addition to the ~45 minutes of original, fake trailers submitted by local and international filmmakers, the evening will include ~30 minutes of obscure, rare and unbelievable-but-true trailers for films from the actual grindhouse era!
Cyko Kid is back in an all-new webcomic! Some of you may recall that we had a Cyko Kid webcomic several years ago, and it was taken down while we worked on other projects. Well, he’s back, and he’s crazier than ever! Many of your old favourites have been re-drawn, and there are many brand new episodes in there as well! Find all the new episodes at the official Cyko Kid website!
